about

This album contains recordings of live performances that took place in June of 2007 during an eight city east coast tour, in support of the 2006 CD "Metasonic." Since Metasonic is more a process than a set of compositions, the performances in support of it did not aim to reproduce the tracks on that disc, but rather to exhibit the process by which such music comes into being. Like any process, the Metasonic process is colored by its conditions. "Metasonic" was recorded in a Shamanic sacred space, and so those tracks have something of a meditative quality. The recordings presented here, by contrast, reflect the atmosphere of rock clubs.

These tracks were recorded in a variety of ways depending on the conditions in the venue. Some came from direct feeds from the main mixing board, some were recorded by the on-stage computer, and some came from the residue that ended up in the looping device. The sound quality is uneven, and would probably be considered unacceptable by commercial standards. Still, I think it sounds pretty good.

Recorded in Buffalo, Jamestown, New York City, New Brunswick, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Richmond. Tracks 4 and 6 were recorded in my studio in Annapolis.
